Paper Water Bottles!

Elizabeth recently posted about the ever cool and reusable SIGG bottles, which are nearly indestructible and much more intelligent than the old plastic water bottle. There is another innovation in the disposable H2O container industry:  The paper water bottle.

paper_water_bottle_01The 360 paper bottle is a concept product designed by Brandimage, a company that creates packaging for all kinds of fun stuff.  The bottle is made from (and I’ll quote the creators here) “…sustainable sheet stock of bamboo, palm leaves, etc. that is pressed into 2 halves to encapsulate a micro-thin PLA”.  What is PLA?  Polylactic acid, or polylactide, is a biodegradable, thermoplastic, aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane.  Heavy.  But cool.

So when will we see paper bottles stocked on the shelves of Walgreens and Tom Thumbs nationwide?  We shall see…  For now, stick to your SIGG, but here’s some contact info if you just can’t wait to find out:

  1. “sustainable sheet stock of bamboo” does not sound like we have enough bamboo to replace all plastic water bottles…

another problem…it does not look like it would fit into any cup holder

…does not look like it can stand upright ether…

nor does it look like the cap will be 100% leak free

all in all i consider this a fail…

why invent a bicycle again if we already had a milk carton which is a much better proven design then this.

    • If no-one reinvented the bicycle we’d all still be riding penny farthings.

    • I agree that the design could be improved, and I am only 12. But all great inventions started with an idea, and this sounds good.
